8: Predictions

Entertainment is constantly evolving, especially with the rise of online streaming and traditional cable TV. As technology advances and consumer preferences shift, predicting the future of these mediums becomes increasingly complex.

In recent years, there has been a noticeable shift towards online streaming services such as Netflix and Disney+, as opposed to traditional cable TV. The appeal is in the freedom to watch content at one's convenience. This trend, known as "cord-cutting," is projected to continue its upward trajectory. By 2024, experts predict that streaming subscribers will outnumber cable subscribers globally.

One of the important features of streaming services is their investment in original content. These platforms have significant resources to produce high-quality, exclusive shows and movies. The future may see an even greater proliferation of original content across various genres, catering to diverse audience interests. Advancements in technology, such as the rollout of 5G networks, are poised to enhance the streaming experience. Faster speeds and improved connectivity will enable seamless streaming on multiple devices. Additionally, the integration of sophisticated algorithms will facilitate personalized content recommendations based on individual viewing habits.

Despite the dominance of streaming, traditional cable TV is unlikely to become almost non-existent. Instead, we may witness a convergence of streaming and cable services, offering hybrid models that combine live TV, on-demand content, and streaming options. This could involve cable providers offering their own streaming platforms or forming partnerships with existing services.

As streaming services expand globally, localization becomes crucial. To appeal to different audiences worldwide, platforms will invest in producing region-specific content and improving language support. Collaborations with local content creators and networks will facilitate penetration into emerging markets, driving further growth.

While streaming presents a bunch of opportunities, it also faces challenges such as account sharing and subscription fatigue. However, these obstacles can cause innovation and lead to new solutions that benefit both providers and consumers.

The future of TV promises to be dynamic, with streaming and cable TV evolving in tandem. We anticipate a landscape characterized by a diverse range of original content, enhanced by technological advancements and global expansion efforts. As the industry continues to evolve, creativity and adaptation will be key to staying relevant and meeting the evolving demands of audiences worldwide.

I start my morning by making my coffee, sitting down, and watching TV for about an hour before I start getting ready for the day. I don't have class until 11 every day but I try each morning to be out of bed between 9:00 - 9:30, I enjoy my slow mornings and feel like waking up earlier than needed gives me time to get mentally prepared for the day. After I make my coffee I will sit on the couch and turn the TV on, click Hulu, and watch One Tree Hill , I have seen this show all the way through multiple times, but it's an easy show to watch because I don't have to pay attention. I scroll on all my social media while the TV is playing in the background to feel caught up on everything that happened while I was asleep. Once I am ready for the day and in class, I will open my computer and check what I have due for the week, once I am caught up on my work for the week I will open u
